Accessibility

Lack of easy access to information stops people making use of our services and facilities. Computer technology means, for example, that text can be converted to speech, text size easily increased, or colour contrast changed. This makes written information immediately available to blind and partially sighted users. In addition, the design of this site helps make information clearer for everyone.

We are committed to removing barriers for all service users, which is why our website has a number of accessibility features, such as:

  • Access keys
  • Text size can be changed by the user
  • Dixerit Plus (which converts written text to the spoken word)
  • Language translation tools

The Council’s site meets the web access standard WAI/W3C. The implementation of our web standards ensures our website remains accessible to all, and meets Government standards.
